Offset uPVC Window Espag Lock Mechanism

An offset window lock locking mechanism is just that, the gearbox at the back of the mechanism is to one side or along the edge of the backplate and no in the middle (like the inline).  An espag is a rod that goes into the euro groove in PVC windows, sometimes called a locking rod or locking track.

A standard offset U Rail espag locking mechanism. An espagnolette multipoint UPVC window lock is the gearing part inside a window that a spindle drive handle operates. This offset mushroom bolt espagnolette is designed for profiles with or without a euro groove and can be used on Aluminium, Timber, and UPVC window systems.  These mechanisms can be fitted to side or top hung windows.

Important: Offset mechanisms coming out of old PVC windows, say old Munster joinery windows will not be the same as the new ones, we can still get these by special order if you would like, so please use the contact us button if you require them ordered, but the new ones will fit with a little maneuvering and patience. If you need any advice please contact us. We usually recommend emailing us an image of your old lock if you are not sure. Please Note:  The locking mechanism we supply may slightly differ from the image shown here.

Please check your replacement window locks ‘Backset’, this is the distance from the front of the lock to the center of the spindle as shown here.  This is to ensure your new window lock will fit into the position of the old one, however, if you cannot get the exact match it is possible to open up the hole on the frame by 1-2mm with a drill.  It is also advisable to ensure you order the right length window espag for your window.
